Ms. Marilyn McGuire, M.S. is a former teacher and administrator who is now an international consultant. Ms. McGuire has been working with instructional and personal coaching with teachers, administrators, and business professionals for over 25 years. She has designed and delivered a variety of workshops, keynote addresses, video and teleconferences, special coaching projects and personal consultation sessions on a host of issues and topics. Ms. McGuire has a rich background in instruction, assessment, classroom management, leadership, and mentoring. She has been involved in reading instruction since the beginning of her career and has a reading specialist credential. Ms. McGuire has worked at all levels, K-12, in public, private, and independent school settings. These experiences readily transfer to the online setting being proposed in the course.

Ms. Marilyn McGuire is currently President of Management Methodologies in Bellevue, Washington. She is a former teacher and administrator and now works around the United States and in Europe as an international consultant. Ms. McGuire has been working with instructional and personal coaching with teachers, administrators and business professionals for over 20 years. Ms McGuire has a rich background in instruction, assessment and classroom management, having worked at all levels K-12 in public and independent school settings. She has her Bachelor of Arts in Education in English/Special Education/ Psychology from Western Washington University, Bellingham, Washington, her Masters of Science in Special Education from Portland State University, Portland, Oregon and is Adjunct Faculty at Seattle Pacific University and Western Washington University. Ms. McGuire is the author of many articles and has co-authored several books, including The Seattle Times Student Workshop: A Resource Book in Discovery, Volume II. In addition to her consulting services, Ms. McGuire was Curriculum Implementation Specialist for Clover Park School District, Middle Level Principal for the Mukilteo School District, Elementary Principal for the Lake Washington School District, District Staff Development Specialist for the Lake Washington School District. Ms. McGuire has received numerous awards, including the Mukilteo School District "Lighthouse Award," and the Excellence Recognition Program award (one of 5 in state and one of 210 nationally so honored) as principal of Emily Dickinson Elementary School. Dr. Barbara Casey is currently Assistant Principal at Garfield High School in Seattle, Washington. She received her Ed.D. from Seattle University, her Masters in Teaching from City University, her Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and Creative Writing from the University of Washington, Seattle, Washington and a Bachelor of Arts in biology from St. Louis University in St. Louis, Missouri.
Dr. Casey is a member of the Association of Washington School Principals, the Washington Gender and Equity Association, the Washington Education Association, Ethnic Minority Caucus, the Bellevue (Washington) Kiwanis Club, the Bellevue (Washington) Education Association, the National Association of Secondary Principals and the Association of Curriculum Development.

Dr. Koh Ikeda is currently Assistant Principal at the Downtown Magnets High School in Los Angeles, California. He received his Ed.D. in Educational Leadership from the University of California Los Angeles, his Masters in Computer Education from California State University Los Angeles and his Bachelor of Arts in Physical Science from the University of California Berkeley. Dr. Ikeda has been the Secondary Specialist for the Teacher Certification Unit, District Intern Program for Los Angeles Unified School District, the Highly Gifted Magnet Coordinator for North Hollywood Highly Gifted Magnet High School and Science Teacher at Eagle Rock Highly Gifted Magnet Junior-Senior High School. Differentiating Instruction in the Regular Classroom and How to “Read and Write” in Math: Improving Problem Solving and Communication in Mathematics
Instructor of Record: Cathy Ross, M.S.,
Ms. Cathy Ross has her Master of Education, Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Washington. She is a currently an educational consultant in private practice as well as adjunct faculty and curriculum developer for Seattle Pacific University. She was the Coordinator of Special Programs at Highline Public Schools in charge of coordination and supervision of district programs for high-risk students, including Title I, LAP, High School Alternative Programs and Multicultural Education. She was also the Project Manager for the Highline Indian Tutoring Program and was responsible for creating, implementing and supervising tutorial programs and other special services for 800 Native American students in the district. Ms. Ross has been a Reading Specialist for K-6 and a full-time teacher. She has also taught at the undergraduate and graduate school level at both Seattle Pacific University and Seattle University. Ms. Ross has been a presenter at numerous conferences, including Puget Sound ESD Ready Set Goals 1-4 Conference in Seattle, Washington entitled “Strategic Reading, Reading in the Content Areas, How to Read and Write Math, Differentiated Instruction.”
