How the Salary Table Works
Two things move your salary: time (steps) and salary points (rows). Understanding both is how you maximize your lifetime earnings.
Steps (Columns) = Years of Service
You advance one step to the right on your anniversary date each year, automatically, up to Step 10 (Step 14 on Pay Scale Group 27).
Rows (Pay Scale Groups) = Salary Points
Every 14 salary points moves you up one pay scale group row. You earn salary points by taking pre-approved professional development courses.
98 Points Reaches Pay Scale Group 27
98 points places you on Pay Scale Group 27, the rating-in limit — the highest row on the current table. From there, seniority steps carry you to Step 14 automatically.
Earn Points Early = Earn More Total
Every year on a higher row compounds. Reaching the top row earlier in your career, rather than later, adds up to significantly more lifetime earnings.
